ADMISSION GUIDELINES

IMPORTANT POINTS FOR ADMISSIONS INTO VARIOUS UNDER GRADUATE COURSES AVAILABLE IN THE COLLEGE.

Note :: Subjects not to be included in the "Best Four Subjects":- Fine Arts, Graphics, Painting, Dance, Music, Informatic Practices, Entrepreneurship, Physical Education, Engineering Drawing, Typing, Shorthand, Cookery, Dress Making and all other Vocational Subjects.

a) B.A. Programme

For merit purpose the aggregate of English and three best relevant subjects will be considered. Home Science, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Sanskrit, Computer Science, Business Mathematics are also considered as relevant subjects for determining the aggregate of Best Four Subjects.

b) B.A.(Hons.) Economics/B.Com. (Hons.)

For merit purpose the aggregate of English and three best relevant subjects will be considered. Students who have offered Mathematics in Class XII only will be considered for admission. Business Mathematics is considered as one of the subjects while determining the aggregate of Best Four subjects.

c) B.A.(Hons.) History/Pol. Science /Sociology

For merit purpose the aggregate of English and three best relevant subjects will be considered.

d) B.A.(Hons)Mathematics

For merit purpose the aggregate of the following subjects will be considered.
i) English
ii) Mathematics
iii) & iv) Any two relevant subjects including Computer Science.

e) B.A.(Hons.) English

For merit purpose the aggregate of English and three best relevant subjects will be considered.

f) B.A.(Hons.) Hindi

For merit purpose the aggregate of English or Hindi and three best relevant subjects will be considered. In case the student prefers Hindi + 3 relavent subjects for merit purpose, he/she should have studied English upto + 2 level.

g) B.A.(Hons.) Sanskrit

For merit purpose the aggregate of English or Sanskrit and three best relevant subjects will be considered. In case the student prefers Sanskrit + 3 relevant subjects for merit purposes, he/she should have studied English upto + 2 level. Note: For all the above B.A.(Hons.) Courses Home Science/Computer Science and Business Mathematics are also considered for determining the aggregate of best four.

h) B.Com(Pass)

For merit purpose the aggregate of the following subjects will be considered:-
i) English
ii) Accountancy
iii) & iv) Any two of the following : - Business Studies, OMSP, Economics, Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Computer Science, Banking, Insurance and Marketing.

i) B.Sc.(Life Sciences), B.Sc (Hons) Botany and Zoology

For merit purpose the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Biotech. (PCB or Biotech.) will be considered.

j) B.Sc(Hons) Mathematics, Physics, Electronics and Chemistry

For merit purpose the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) will be considered.

k) B.Sc(Hons) Bio-Chemistry

For merit purpose the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology or Bio-Technology will be considered.

l) B.Sc. (Hons) Statistics

For merit purpose the aggregate of the following subjects will be considered for admission:-
i) English
ii) Mathematics
iii) & iv) Any two relevant subjects including Computer Science.

Note:-

1. Exemption from MIL for B.A.(Pass/Hons)/B.Com(Pass/Hons)
Candidates who have not offered Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi or Gujarati at the Secondary School Examination, New Delhi or the Senior School Certificate Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or the Matriculation Examination of an Indian University or an Examination conducted by some Public Body in India and recognized as equivalent to either of the aforesaid examination, shall be permitted to offer in lieu of Modern Indian Language, Political Science or History provided they have not otherwise offered the same.

2. Compulsory Test in Hindi
The Students of B.A.(Pass/Hons), B.Com(Pass/Hons), B.Sc(Gen/Hons) who have not passed Hindi/Elementary Hindi/Special Hindi in the previous examination or in Class VIII and who have not opted Hindi in B.A.(Pass/Hons), B.Com(Pass/Hons), B.Sc(Gen/Hons) have to appear at the examination in Compulsory Hindi at the end of I Year. However, no separate classes will be held.

Academic Qualifications for Admission to Under Graduate Courses

Those who have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or any other Examination recognized as equivalent thereto, may be admitted to the First Year of the B.A., B.A.(Hons.) B.Com, B.Sc (Life Sciences) B.Sc.(Honours) three-year degree Courses. No direct admission is permissible to the II Year undergraduate courses.

The medium of the instruction as well as Internal Examinations, Tutorials/Preceptorials shall be ENGLISH only. Those students who have studied Class XII in English medium will be preferred for admission in this college.

Admission will be made strictly according to merit and as per the decisions taken by the University of Delhi from time to time and after counselling the candidates.

Rounding-off of a fraction of a mark is not permissible for admission to any course.

The decision of the Principal of the College is final.

Admission to M.A./M.Sc Courses will be done on production of the Registration Certificate issued by the University of Delhi.

Minimum Age Requirement for Under-Graduate Candidates

A student seeking admission to the First Year of the B.A./B.Com/B.Sc(Pass/General/Hons)Course must be at least 17 Years (Completed) of age before the First Day of October in the Year in which he/she seeks admission. The Vice-Chancellor may, on the basis of individual merit, relax the age limit upto a maximum period of one year.

Minimum Age Requirement for Post-Graduate Candidates

No person shall be qualified for admission to the University in the First Year of the M.A. or M.Com Course unless he/she is Twenty Years of age before the First Day of October of the Year in which he/she seeks admission. However, relaxation of age limit upto a maximum period of one Year on the basis of the Individual Merits may be made by the Vice Chancellor.

Candidates under this category shall be permitted to seek provisional registration subject to relaxation of the Age being permitted by the Vice Chancellor. Request for relaxation of the age shall be made by the Candidates themselves through the Principal of the College.
