HISTORY

20th August, 1961 - Foundation Stone Laid by Dr.S.Radhakrishnan. The vision and public spirit of Smt.Durga Bai Deshmukh, Dr.C.D.Deshmukh, Dr.K.L.Rao, and Dr.C.Anna Rao to promote the cause of Education, culminated in launching Sri Venkateswara College at New Delhi under the auspices of the famous Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The College began functioning modestly in 1961 in a school building of the Andhra Education Society at Rouse Avenue, New Delhi, with 271 students and 13 Faculty members. The college moved into its own spacious buildings located at Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi on 25th August, 1969.
The initial objective to start a college at Delhi by the TTD was to cater to the educational needs of students hailing from the Southern States of India. The college commenced with B.A. Course Telugu and Tamil besides Hindi and Sanskrit as the subjects in Modern Indian Languages.
This T.T.D. institution soon outgrew its regional character and has now become one of the most sought after co-educational colleges in Delhi and India too.
