Under Graduate Courses

Admission is done in accordance with the procedures laid down by the University and the eligibility criteria for specific subjects will be pasted on the College Notice Board at the times specified by the University. No individual intimation will be sent to any candidate and all selected candidates will have to come to College for admission. All admissions will be done by the College Admissions Committee. Admission of eligible candidates will be on first-come first-served basis in all phases of admission. For further information, please see the General Information page in the College Prospectus.

I) Admission Forms, Notification of Lists and Payment of Fees:

The sale and receipt of Application Forms will start on 1st June, 2005 and the last date for receipt of Application Forms is 15th June 2005. ICR Forms (which are available in 16 centres all over Delhi) will be accepted for all subjects excepting those in which a written test is required.

• The Notification of the 1st Admissions List will be 25th June 2005.

• Admission and Payment of Fees will be between 27th June and 29th June 2005.

• Notification of 2nd Admission List will be 30th June 2005.

• Admission and Payment of Fees will be between 1st July and 4th July 2005.

• Notification of 3rd Admission List will be 5th July 2005.

• Admission and Payment of Fees will be between 6th July and 8th July 2005.

• Notification of 4th Admission List will be 9th July 2005.

• Admission and Payment of Fees will be between 11th July and 13th July 2005.

Note: Lists will be displayed at 10.00 a.m. and no Payment of Fees will be done after 1.00 p.m.

II) Essential Documents:-

All candidates at the time of admission will have to submit the following original documents:

a) Mark Sheet giving details of marks secured in the Class XII Examination.

b) Character Certificate issued by the Head of the Institution last attended.

c) Date of Birth Certificate (Class X certificate specifying the date of birth will be accepted)

d) Certificate for having qualified in Hindi in those cases where students have studied Hindi till Class VIII.

e) 2 latest passport sized photographs and 1 stamp sized photograph for College Identity Card (unattested).

f) 1 set of attested copies of all the above Certificates (a, b, c, d)

Note: Students who cannot procure the above mentioned Certificates will be given Provisional Admission till 16th August 2005. Failure to submit the documents hereafter will lead to an automatic cancellation of admission. The College also retains the right to seek authentication from concerned authorities issuing the above mentioned Certificates.

III) Age Criterion

The minimum eligibility in age is 17 years and no applicant can be less than that on or before 1st October, 2005. Relaxation of age up to one year is permissible with the approval of the Vice Chancellor after the candidate is admitted by the College and such an application has to be made through the Principal, Miranda House.

IV) Gap Year Students

Students who have passed their qualifying examination prior to 2005 are known as ‘gap year students’. Such students are eligible for admission but have to contact the concerned Departments in College and submit the necessary documents, as specified in the Prospectus. However, gap year students will not be considered for hostel admission.

V) Foreign Boards and Foreign Students

Admission under this category is centralized and is done through the Office of Foreign Students’ Advisor, c/o Faculty of Management Studies, DU. The eligibility criteria for this category is the same as for general students. Foreign students who have passed their qualifying examination under an Indian Board/University will be treated on par with Indian students.

VI) Reserved Categories

a) Candidates belonging to SC/ST category shall be allowed 5% relaxation of marks in the minimum eligibility requirements. A total of 5% seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes whereas 7.5% are reserved for students belonging to Scheduled Tribes. Students belonging to either of these categories will be admitted via the Office of the Dean of Students Welfare. They would be required to submit an attested copy of the SC/ST certificate issued by any competent authorities (for details please study the relevant portion in the Prospectus page of this website).

b) Children/wives/widows of personnel of Armed/Para-Military forces killed/disabled in action during war, 1947 onwards, or those who died while on duty will be allowed relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility requirements. A total of 5% seats are reserved under this quota. All students who wish to avail admission under this quota must submit the relevant certificate from any competent authority (as mentioned in the College Prospectus).

c) 3% of the total seats are reserved for Physically Challenged candidates. Such candidates will be admitted through the Office of the Dean of Students Welfare in accordance with University procedures. The relevant documents procured from competent medical authority and the certificate of authentication must be submitted as per the rules laid down in the College Prospectus. The College, however, retains the right to check and verify the correctness of facts and, in case, the candidate is found ineligible under this category, the College reserves the right to cancel the admission.

VII) Admission on basis of Excellence in Sports

Students wishing to apply for admission through excellence in Sports have to state the same in their Admission form. Those who have participated in either Inter-Zonal, National or International Levels in the last three years are eligible for the Sports Trials which will be held on 17th June and 18th June in the College Sports Grounds. Candidates have to bring their relevant original certificates and are requested to come in their Sports Kit. The decision of the College for admission in this category will be final. VIII) Admission on basis of Excellence in Extra-Curricular Activities

Candidates who wish to apply on the basis of ECA (Extra-Curricular Activities) should submit their application with the relevant documents after the declaration of the Second Admissions List on 4th July in the College Office. Only 5% concession will be given to candidates who apply under this category. The list of short-listed candidates eligible for auditions will be displayed on the College Notice Board on 7th July and the auditions will take place, the day after (8th July) in the College Auditorium. Candidates have to bring all supporting certificates (originals only) to substantiate claims of excellence in extra-curricular activities.
