The college has come a long way since its inception 50 years ago. The farsightedness of the founding fathers of this college has led this institution of higher learning to acquire an important place in the University of Delhi. To quote Vice-Chancellor, Professor Deepak Nayyar : "Kirori Mal College is the jewel of Delhi University. It is one of the finest institution and has in it all the requirements that a college needs to have to strive ahead and succeed".
Kirori Mal College began as Nirmala College, which was started by American Jesuits in the wake of Partition. It was situated at Qutab Road. Faced with certain intractable problems relating to the staff consisting of people coming from West Punjab and Sind after the partition, the management of the College changed hands and the trust founded by Seth Kirori Mal took over the college. The college shifted to its present campus on Feb. 1, 1954. The grateful Kirori Mal fraternity deeply acknowledges the vision and farsightedness of Seth Kirori Mal who did not have any formal education himself.
Over the years, the college has built up an impressive array of academic, sports and cultural facilities. We have a fully computerised library, a state of the art computer centre, an active placement cell, a well equipped seminar room, a brand new gymnasium, sprawling eco-friendly lawns, and many other facilities.
The student will find their stay in the college an enjoyable and fruitiful experience.
