ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Attendance Requirements

In order to be eligible to appear at a University Examination every student has to attend a minimum of two thirds of the lectures, practicals and tutorials/perceptorials held during the year, considered separately.

Ordinance VII, Clause 2-A, Part (ii) states:

The Principal of a College shall have the power to strike off the name of a students who is irregular In attendance for such a long period that he cannot put in the requisite percentage of attendance.

Students seeking concession -

(i) Medical grounds should submit a fitness certificate from the appropriate within a week after rejoining College.

(ii) Sports grounds should submit a certificate from Sports teacher within a week after participation in the event.

(iii) ECA/NCC/NSS grounds should submit a certificate from the concerned teacher within a week after participating in the event / competition.

In no case will the concessions granted under (i), (ii), (iii), or in any combination thereof exceed one third of the total number of lectures delivered.

Every student admitted to the College for the Academic session 2005-2006 shall be compulsorily required to sign an undertaking that he/she will fulfill the minimum attendance requirements failing which the College shall have the right to take necessary action.

Age Requirement

For admission to the first year of any degree course, an applicant should be 17 years of age before the first day of October in the year in which he/she seeks admission. For admission to M.A./M.Sc. the minimum age requirement is 20 Years before the Ist of October in the year in which the applicant seeks admission.

Eligibility

(Subject to revision by the University)

(i) Admission B.A. Programme / B.Sc. (Courses)

Minimum percentage of marks required for admission to B.A. Programme / B.Sc. courses is 40% of the aggregate at any of the examinations recognized by the University of Delhi.

(ii) Admissian to B.A. (Hons.) / B.Com. (Hons.) / B.Sc.(Hons.) Mathematics

Minimum percentage of marks for admission to B.A. (Hons.), B.Com. (Hons.) and B.Sc.(Hons.) Mathematics is 45% in the aggregate at any of the examination recognized by the University of Delhi. However, for admission to B.A. (Hons.) Mathematics the candidate should also at least 50% marks in Mathematics. Similarly, for admission to B.Sc.(Hons.) Mathematics, the candidate should have passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with as least 50% marks in Mathematics.

(iii) Admission to B.Sc. (Hons.)

Minimum percentage of marks for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) is 50% in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology for admission to Botany / Zoology (Honours); and Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for admission to Physics/Chemistry (Hons.) in any of the examinations recognized by the University of Delhi. The candidate should also have passed in each of the subjects included in the aggregate.

Foreign Students

NO Foreign Student is admitted to the college unless he / she produces a letter from the Foreign Students'Advisor, University of Delhi, regarding his / her eligibility and clearance for his / her holding a student visa. Admission of foreign students in the college will be finalised after consultation between the foreign student's advisor of the college and admission in-charge of the relevant subject on a first come first served basis.

Admission on the basts of Sports and Cultural Activities

There are a few seats reserved in the courses offered by the college for outstanding sports persons and those excelling in extra-curricular activities (certain specified cultural activities).

(a) (i) Sports: All candidates under the sports category should apply on special application forms for sports        available in college office, and should attach to their applications a recent photograph and attested copies of        sports certificates, newspaper reports and other relevant documents. Candidates applying far more than one        game should apply on separate forms for each of them. The short listing of candidates under the sports        category will be strictly according to the University guidelines prescribed in rule 8A of the Bulletin of        information of the university. Candidates will be selected through a process of screening (on the basis of        certificates etc.), trails and finally an interview with the Special Admissions Committee (SAC). The decision of        the Special Admission Committee will be final.

(ii) Extra-curricular Activities: The college admits a few students in the cultural categories of Drama, Debate, Music, Fine Arts and Photography. Candidates with outstanding talent/ performance in these areas may apply on the special application forms for ECA available in the college office. Candidates applying for more than one category should apply on separate form for each category. The candidates should not attach any certificates etc. at the time of application but should bring these along for auditions / trails (which may have several eliminations rounds) and interview with the Special Admission Committee (SAC). The decision of the Special Admissions Committee will be final. Upon admission into the college, the successful candidates will become members of the society that has recommended their admission and will have to mandatorily participate in its activities on a regular basis.

(b) Students admitted on the basis Sport / ECA will be compulsorily required to participate in sports practice matches / rehearsals, competitive events and other such related activities throughout their stay in college. Refusal or failure to do so will invite disciplinary action, which could also involve cancellation of admission. (Candidates will be required to sign a bond to this effect).

(c) Waiting List: Should vacancies arise in any Sports / ECA category these will be filled only from amongst those candidates whose names figure in the duly formulated Waiting List. All wating candidates are also required appear for an interview with the S.A.C. whose decision will be final.
