i) Ph.D. in Physical Sciences |
Candidates selected through the written entrance examination and through the JRF channel are required to take a minimum of five courses (including Research Courses if prescribed) in the first two semesters. Satisfactory completion of the Pre-Ph.D. course work (according to the JNU Ordinances) is prerequisite for confirmation in the Ph.D. programme. Suitable courses may also be prescribed for candidates admitted through the Direct channel. |
ii) M.Sc. in Physics |
The detailed syllabus of the M.Sc. programme is available from the School. The salient features of the syllabus are: (a) emphasis on core aspects of modern physics, and (b) emphasis on laboratory training and modern electronics. Besides being a terminal degree at the Master’s level, the programme is viewed as an integral part of the research programme of the School. |
