ii) MA in Arts and Aesthetics
The MA degree programme gives students grounding in history, theory and aesthetics of visual and performing arts. All students will take six compulsory core courses, three of which survey the history of music, dance, theatre, architecture, sculpture and painting in India. The three other compulsory courses deal with aesthetics and research methodology. Students will choose ten other courses (up to two of which may be in other Schools) as optional courses. The optional courses offered will cover music, dance, theatre (in the performing arts) and sculpture, painting and architecture (in the visual arts). Most courses will prioritize a critical theoretical approach.
Specialisation is currently available in the streams of visual and performing arts.
