The B.A.(Hons.) programme offered by the Department is an integrated one, incorporating in each year three papers in the concerned language and two common papers to be taught in English. The papers in the concerned language aim at acquisition of the four basic skills - reading, comprehension, writing and speaking -, introduction to the study of literature and use of the foreign language for specific professional purposes. The common courses are designed to locate the study of the foreign language in the broader context of social, historical and scientific developments and to encourage students to establish links between the history and literature of this country and their chosen linguistic area.

The integrated B.A.(Hons.) programme equips students who wish to carry on their studies at the postgraduate level and those who choose to immediately enter professional life for a variety of employment opportunities (in translation, tourism, in the corporate world where knowledge of a foreign language is either required or seen as an advantage).
